In the landscape structure for Nieuw-Vennep West, LANDLAB creates the guidelines for a future urban development in Haarlemermeer. Coming out of the polders, the development is divided into a similar modular system with long lines and agricultural vistas. The landscape plan emphasizes the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with the existing environment and protects areas for nature while also incorporating frayed edges along the building zones to allow for more diversity in habitat.
In the polders, the scenery is exciting when it has variety and unique views. The variety comes from key building blocks: lines- from planting and water, planes- from fields and gardens, and points- from special objects within the landscape. The future for the development is composed from these various polder building blocks (lines, planes, points) and provides a rhythmic and ecologically interesting landcape: a polder patchwork.
