At the Maliebaan of Utrecht, right behind Oranje Fonds’ renovated residence, you can find a new green oasis; a garden that expresses royal grandeur in a relatively small space. The composition is classical: from an entrance courtyard and porch, to an ornamental garden and a utility garden. The heart contains sloping green grass ‘cushions’ with an orange flower serpentine. A narrow meandering water feature flows into a circular pond where rock boulders offer a place to sit down. Parking is solved behind a beech hedge row, partly covered by a pergola that stretches along the entire site and also facilitates container- and bicycle storage. The existing old trees create a strong backdrop for the lush courtyard. The three ‘princess’-linden trees with special decorative leaves are middle-sized and bloom extensively.
