Andreas Ensemble

On the site of a former hospital in Amsterdam, hidden behind monumental buildings, lies an expansive courtyard space on top of a car park. Here LANDLAB designs a leafy retreat in the form of eight communal gardens. Whilst there is a coherence between the base components; the hedges, trees and forms, each garden has its own character, ranging from ornamental gardens in various different colour schemes to simple, calm, undulating lawns. Surrounding the gardens are homes, a hotel and a children’s day care centre; a wide variety of people comes to enjoy, stroll or play here.
